We are currently seeking a candidate for the position of Electrician in the Long Island, New York area. This position is responsible for providing electrical services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading electrical systems and equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at job site throughout Long Island the New York Metropolitan area. This includes assisting in diagnosis, analysis and resolution of equipment or software system failures. Overtime can be expected on a regular basis. Job Responsibilities:

  •  Troubleshoot, Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment
  • Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code
  • Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears
  • Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs
  • Run computer cables, connect computer jacks and plugs and test for adequate operation
  • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
  • Survey electrical systems, circuits and plans
  • Assist salesperson in providing labor and material estimates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent school or courses resulting in Master Electrician License
  • Master Electrician License is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical trade
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools and electrical drawing and blueprints
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A self starter and self motivated. Applicable vocational training preferred
  • Must read, write, speak and understand well in English
  • Basic computer skills; knowledge in networking
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
  • Must have a valid and clean drivers’ license, background check and a drug & alcohol analysis
  • Must be punctual, responsible and reliable
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor

This position is responsible for providing on-site maintenance and repairs of backup generators at our client’s facilities throughout the New York Metropolitan area. Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance or repairs to power generation systems, including generators and automatic transfer switches and switchgear for residential and commercial customers
  • Perform unit repairs on generators ranging in size from 20kw to 2mkw
  • Diagnose or troubleshoot problems with systems failures and other warranty issues
  • Perform transfer switch maintenance including repair, testing of existing standard equipment, and assembly and test of new equipment
  • Provide technical knowledge, expertise and direction in the repair of all types of backup power / transfer switch apparatus / load bank testing
  • Provide customers with pro-active technical leadership & problem solving support
  • Prepare and submit compliance, operational, and safety forms or reports
  • Maintain truck inventory by monitoring and requesting materials required. Communicate timely for restocking needs
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, with excellent work ethic and neat appearance
  • Keep customers and service dispatchers informed of job progress, parts availability, cost estimates and job completion

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 3+years experience in servicing residential/commercial generators and transfer switches/ emergency backup power and power delivery experience
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Any experience providing maintenance and repair on diesel engines, controls, switchgear and generator ends and knowledge of transfer switch operation and repair
  • Good electrical-mechanical skills
  • Master Electrician License is a plus
  • Inpower certified is a plus
  • Comprehensive electrical-mechanical skills
  • Reading & Interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings and prints
  • Strong background or equivalent training in engines, electrical systems, heavy mechanics, hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Should be self-motivated with a desire to learn. Applicable vocational training preferred
  • A self starter and self motivated
  • Must read, write, speak and understand well in English
  • Basic computer skills; knowledge in networking
  • Excellent communications skills, ability to establish reports, project a professional tone and provide clear concise information
  • Must have a valid and clean drivers’ license, background check and a drug & alcohol analysis
  • Must be punctual, responsible and reliable
